Yea me too. Especially when you count all the mods you can get for games
like BF1942 for example which are commonly several hundred megs, and then mirrored on several websites....and just about all songs, video, or any form of media is on the internet, plus mirrored. Maybe 23 PB if you don't include programs (.zip, .exe, .rar, etc) and huge videos. [View Quote] How Long...May 18, 2004, 6:27am

reason I should hate their product because I hate the company? I don't think so =P [View Quote] Somewhat OT: Professional 3DMay 21, 2004, 3:44pm

Whoa
> Two days after the Cy's Alphabit sent me the zips for the CY Award > Statue and i asked JP if he could upload them. He told me that i would be > better off PUTTING A PICTURE of one up cause he would have to change the > regestry. I tryed to do that but after all the yrs i worked for a CY this > was not very satisfiying for me. SO I dunno about you guys, but that right there floored me. That's just pure unacceptable and lazy. Isn't this their job? And it probably explains why Alphaworld never sees any new objects if AWI is that scared to change the registry. Are they all n00bs or something when it comes to that stuff? O_o CY statues in AW no longer loadJun 2, 2004, 4:52pm
Could prolly just simply have a list of given CYs and their location.
People who won CYs should have a url to that page on their statue when you click it...and you could asign targets to each entry on the list, so for example when you click the statue for best website 2004 the url would be like http://www.awcommunity.org/cyawards/verify.htm#website2004; that way it would take you right to that part of the list. Started October 30th, 2002, Besburn River was initiated as a long term
project to physically connect Horizon City to SW City. After countless hours slaving away on the project over the course of time, it's finally reached it's destination. On June 2nd, 7:10PM VRT, 2004, the last bits of water were poured in! The river was measured by string, and it clocks in at 11,980 coordinates long, or about 74.5 miles long. Each coordinate of river is about 32 objects, which makes the river about 383,000 objects. Congrats to all who worked on this Alphaworld landmark, surely AW's longest river. picture of the river: http://pics.swcity.net/besburn_review.jpg (note the river's width is exaggerated for easy viewing) Something Interesting on CNN.comJun 4, 2004, 3:50pm

Use Corona Blockers pleaseJun 7, 2004, 9:45pm
Here's a little tip to make public building areas a little more user
friendly - corona blockers. Coronas are nice up close, but for the higher vis users, as you get 100m+ away from it, it's just a critical ball of light in the distance. Corona blockers are large objects (such as pp01l_h, xwall1, xiggy4) with the following command: create texture ac mask=awd8m,solid no (note you can use any texture, but I picked "ac" since it's only 2 letters) It makes the object 100% transparent, making it block the coronas, but allowing you to see through. As you approach the build, you'll pass through the corona blocker and the coronas should kick in as a reasonable size at that distance. I'd be very happy if public event organizers started using this (like at birthday card sites and such)...just try to fly around one of those areas with 120m vis X_X PS - Also, one little problem with corona blockers - they get in the way of right clicking when you try to build. Either put them in last, or place them underground and have the move into place (which would still block your right click, but only once at least). Come on, this is getting ridiculous.Jun 10, 2004, 9:03pm
And AWI, as they've claimed and proved, backup Alphaworld everyday unless
they stopped somewhere in the past couple years. I think they might be upgrading their hard drives since the world database is growing to a critical mass. The AW Mapper is also down...a clue O_o? Either way I can't imagine what would be taking so long. Maybe they forgot AW was down =P [View Quote] Come on, this is getting ridiculous.Jun 11, 2004, 4:22am

"Today is June 15th, 2004". Everyone I know in r/l would casually say it like that. Whatever though, it's just a cultural thing. [View Quote] Come on, this is getting ridiculous.Jun 16, 2004, 3:16am
I have no article but I can take a guess that the shoe making industry,
which was largely important back in the days of yore, were responsible for both Foot and Inch measurements. As for why there are 12, I can only guess it's because inch comes from the old english word "ynce" which is from the latin word "uncia" which roughly means 12 parts of x. Ugh... Remember when AW was down? Well, before they brought it back online
they did a database rebuild. In doing so, some cells were corrupted. I recieved a telegram from someone who found cells of open land dotted throughout my land. She too also had some holes in her land, and I found another hole in an old developed area of town. Fortunantly so far all the holes have been just land cover, but ugh at if a developed cell was corrupt. Better start looking around at your primary builds.... AW Radio StationsJun 28, 2004, 3:48am
'Tis true. Real radio stations can just pop a song on the air. They don't
pay royalities or fees (maybe for some special exceptions I guess). It's a publicity thing, free advertising for the artist. [View Quote] AW Radio StationsJun 29, 2004, 7:03pm
