Has any of the AWI's public building world ever received an increase in its
size? In other word, one world might be upgraded from, um, P-1000 to P-2000. I only know of AWTeen that has received its increase in world size. If that is the only world ever to have received an upgrade in its size, then may I ask why is that? So far I haven't seen other world than AWTeen receiving an increase in world size. COFMeta, Mars, Yellow, Colony Alpha, and et cetera are becoming congested. They may become full in a few years or so or are probably already full. I am only expressing my concern. As far as I know, the Alphaworld and AWTeen appeared to be less congested to me in term of percentage of the world being built up. But I get an impression that other world are becoming fully congested and therefore yields no available space or lack enough spaces to accompanies future building activity. And also the relatively small size of these world may be motivation for lack of or less building activity in there, since people simply prefer to have as much as land as they care to (um, maybe this part of sentence after comma needs rephrasing? O_o). Anyway, have a good day. -- Legion "I think, therefore I am" - Rene Descartes, 17th-century French philosopher, Earth A mistake...Apr 7, 2004, 12:58am

Why does this page provide a link to COFMeta object library at http://objects.activeworlds.com/meta/ ? The link led to "access denied" error or similar to that. Either update page to remove link, open up the object path directory, or at least provide us with the object registry list. It would be unreasonably stupid to leave it as "it is". Update it! Is COFMeta directory the only one giving us error? Is Mars and Yellow affected as well? And I'm not sure that object yard at 50s 5e 90 is much updated or at least has all objects. O_o -- Legion "I think, therefore I am" - Rene Descartes, 17th-century French philosopher, Earth What's new in 531?Apr 10, 2004, 7:55pm
Um, that isn't possible. That's because they don't usually added features in
beta. It is supposed to be pre-planned before going into open beta. I get the impression from my history with Active Worlds in open beta from 2.0 or 2.1 (can't remember which one it was) to present 3.5 that new features are never added during open beta and so it is probably a standard. I doubt they will do implementing the feature of bigger cell data limit until next major version (whether it be 3.6, 4.0, or whatever the next version it is). Once a version goes into open beta, no more features will be added. Anyway, that's the impression I get from my Active Worlds past. -- Legion A mafia guy working for Uncle Enzo... I think it might be possible that the media feature was decided on for
implementation in 3.6 largely because of two factors: corporate customers' demand (which is always a highest priority than home users for AWI or so Eep and others claimed and I'm not sure if that is true or not but I guess it is) and the rapid development of radio/television broadcasting industry, further accelerated by the "free enterprise" competition within it, in Active Worlds. Example of these rapid development of that industry are the growth of numbers of stations in both of these media such as ABN (television), AWVR (Radio), VWTV (television), and many others competing for their listeners/viewers, even though they don't make money from it but the concept of free enterprise still applies. So there's another bad news for communism. ;) -- Legion An economic professor.... I just got an email from someone named Marcus W with a question regarding AW
3.6. I couldn't answer his question since I'm not exactly an expert on that subject so I asked him if I can post his question here so that you folks can answer and he said yes, so you can answer this question. Here is the copy: Hello, It is great to see streaming being added to AW. I was curious how this would be achieved. If someone puts stream A in location 1, and another stream B in location 2, is there a way to keep stream A going and not cause an interruption when someone moves from location 1 to 2? Vice versa, if someone goes to location 2 first is there a way to make sure they can still hear the stream without another stream interrupting? It's a great idea to add streaming but I see a lot of soft spots. Would it be possible to have like a headphone feature where a user could listen to 1 constant stream, which they would select at GZ, and this would override any other stream assignments? (Like someone listening to a headset on a bus, train, car, etc... ) -- Legion "I think, therefore I am" - Rene Descartes, 17th-century French philosopher, Earth [View Quote] 3.6 confirmed...May 2, 2004, 2:53pm

But not in the near or immediate future, though, considering their price
proved unaffordable to larger group of folks who really need to manage money during the time of an economic recession. Besides, I think you're looking at the U.S. demographics instead of international demographics. The broadband is considerably more expensive elsewhere than in the U.S. largely due to strong American dollars (not sure why its strong or something like that). My fellow Active Worlds citizen,
The media command has created a whole new opportunity for our existing broadcasting industry in the Active Worlds. It will most likely further fuels the development of the fast-growing industry. It has created new opportunities for everyone else as well. A new medium to enjoy so much, it's like when television has switched from black and white to color. It introduces a new dimension to the world we now lives in (virtually). It is perhaps one of the greatest innovation ever done in the Active Worlds, beside others in the past. We now have various kinds of media to choose, more than ever before, including radio, television, newspaper (on the Web anyway), and others. It will be seen as one of the biggest changes ever made to our (virtual) life that we knew before in AW. But now, our (virtual) life will be different. The vision is not done yet, though. There's more to come. What will be the next? To quote President Bartlet from a television show called "West Wing", we say "What's next?" We now live in the new century, the 21st century. The century of the future, where the freedom, boldness, and innovative spirits take over the world from the old order of the 20th century. The 21st century granted us a greater 'newfound' freedom in the virtual world whereas 20th century do not. Welcome to the "brave new world." Congratulations, you are in the new world no one has ever gone to before. Media or not, it is just the beginning of the entirely new virtual world (or reality). Sincerely, Legion Chairman of Rockford Township, Phin County, Alphaworld P.S. Tried to make this writing grammatically correct because Eep is back in Active Worlds newsgroups but I sucks lol. My apologies for any kinds of errors you may see here. I tried to express my vision of the Active World's future as best as I can but that's all I can get. Ok, what's up with Activeworlds Inc.? They are wasting their times and money
on trying to fix the NewAW that is already broken. They aren't giving Active Worlds browser enough time to develop it further. Neither did they stick to their promises to implement object additions to Alphaworld's object library, which was belated. Someone once said, "If it's broken, don't fix it." I say it's time for Activeworlds Inc. to shifts their focus to something else, like Active Worlds browser and Alphaworld. It's time for Activeworlds Inc. to stop wasting their time on mindlessly fixing NewAW, which they failed to fix major bugs there. It's been years since it was first created and it still hasn't been fixed so that means it's broken, not workable. It's waste of valuable and precious time and money. You don't know Jetta Lewis? He was one of the regular posters in this
newsgroup from time to time so I find it hard to believe that you don't know him. He was also a prominent citizen in Active Worlds, having founded the America world, many of the worlds based on individual worlds like Utah (Eep has earlier mentioned it in his website about it since he was offered to run it but it somehow closed for some reason), and finally a few universes such as America. Jetta Lewis was a quite busy person in the Active Worlds and its related stuffs. Jetta Lewis was therefore a prominent citizen who is known by masses of the Active Worlds. Besides, he has been here for the long time so I find it hard to believe you have failed to have known him. He is one of the finest public citizen in the Active Worlds. In fact, Activeworlds Inc. has already agreed to take over the America world if anything happened to Jetta Lewis (as was mentioned in earlier post in the newsgroup but it unfortunately had bad reception, leading to flame wars). As the flame wars went on after the earlier post about Activeworlds Inc. agreement with Jetta Lewis, with the misunderstanding as the main cause of the flame wars, I already understood quickly after reading that post that an agreement was done, opposite of what flamers claimed. Now, I have encountered a pathetic reply to Jetta Lewis's post announcing the VR Rome. Rossyboy, I think you really know Jetta Lewis. He is hard to miss these days on this newsgroups or any of media. He is a prominent citizen, after all. But for now, I'm done with my writing on this subject. I have other business to attends to, among them being running a town network, being too busy to deal with this matter. I'll leave this matter to you and Jetta Lewis. Anyway, have a good evening.
