Nah, it'll be too hard and cost too much for them to do that, so they'll
just let it stay buggy. Nintendo, Sega, and Sony have done that.

I think we should have an option to set where we want URL's to be opened.
When I click on a URL or link in activeworlds I dont really like the way
that it takes up halve of my screen.
I would much rather see it open in my internet explorer window or have the
option to set where my browser is located.
Would be nice to have the choice of using the internal browser or an
external one.
Many thanks

I have a Sony SR-17, super slim small thing. It lacks a CDROM drive and
Ethernet port, but it has a three hour battery life and weighs under 2
pounds.
It works great, and comes with WindowsME and Windows2000. I got mine for
$1200 with a 700mhz P3, 128MB RAM (you can get more), 20gig hd, and an 8MB
ATI mobile vid card.
You can get a portable CDRW or DVD drive and PC card Ethernet port for it
and still be under $2000.

It makes one wonder what the true purpose of high school *in the US* is. I
think it's not to educate kids, but to make them feel good about themselves.
I mean, how much do you learn from Physical "Education" and all the sports?
Not much, but it sure makes the dumb idiots feel good about themselves to
see they can run around a track faster than people with IQ's triple of their
own.

The school I used to go to (private, with a very expensive tuition) only had
Macs and 486s. And guess what? The 486s were faster than the Apple G3s.
All of the computers were on one sub-56K line. Talk about slow.
But, the worst thing of all was the computer "teacher" who put a hacker in
charge of the network who sabotaged the schools network and blamed it on my
friend. The "teacher" also had us make webpages and wouldn't let us use CSS
because she didn't understand.
Ah, the memories.

I don't think I will "upgrade" to WindowsXP when it comes out due to the
activation procedures. If you install too much new hardware you have to
re-activate it for it to work. I read somewhere that you only get 4(?)
activations.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but XP is REALLY crossing the line.

The newest public building world, A-Build is now open! It is a PS16xe
world, part of the ActiveWorlds World Network, and owned by BirdMike.
Everyone is welcome to build in A-Build, which uses AW's object path for
familiarity. The cell data limit is set to huge, so large, complex
buildings can be built! Please stop by sometime! To become a citizen of

That would be bittersweet. Many of the important things in AW are made by
citizens long gone, and it does get to be quite annoying. But if all of
that property was deleted, some of AW's history would be erased, towns would
lose essential buildings, roads would be gone, and things would be lost.
Urban renewal is pleasant though. It opens up land. That would excite
people, for they could build much closer to GZ. But remember, many of the
people who have shaped AW, and then died, have obviously not renewed their
citizenships, and their "legacy" would be lost, in a way
I am going on and on about this. I will just say that it would take A LOT
of pushing to get ActiveWorlds to do that.

AWCom,
I am trying to be as unbiased as possible in writing this, so bear with me.
Zero seems to be a very ideal customer? He bought 2 years of citizenship,
and two large worlds. Maybe three t-shirts don't mean that much when you
consider that?
Even though you guys are very busy with the new 3.0 and everything, doesn't
"the customer always come first?"
Please, if this is insulting, do not be offended. This is just my view on

I agree with what you say about how AW will never be able to profit from
E-commerce if they chrage for citizenships. I know that if I am visiting a
website and to view their inventory and buy stuff I have to download a file
that takes a while to download JUST to view their stuff, I will most likely
go else where. There would be consequences of not charging for memberships;
worlds would have to cost much more for example.
Oh well.

I want a password protection feature implemented in AW to protect children
from adult worlds and adult content.

Although I agree with you in the whole thing that password protection SHOULD
not be necessary, I think that as a legality it is required. I am not at
all familiar on the subject, but aren't adult websites REQUIRED to have
password protection, or at least a warning of the content on the webpage?
If AW won't implement a password protection feature, they should at least
have a pop-up alert every time you visit an adult world stating that the
world is an adult world and that children should leave right away.
Nornny, just because in an ideal world PW protection isn't needed, and smart
kids can find a way around it, AW would actually be making an effort to
protect children. Don't take this personally, it's just part of a
discussion.
Jun 28, 2000, 8:32pm
I wish that AW would implement new objects on a regular basis.
Ex: Like at TheSims.com, every Thursday, or SimDay, they would release some
new game add-on, bit of information, or addition to their website. If AW
did this weekly, they could release an objects a week, and by doing so
create some interest within the community.
Just something I would like to see done.
