Help needed.

Then why would you ask "most people" for help? If they don't know how you program, then how can you expect them to help you?

You must be the first.

Well, did you first look at the help files or were you just too lazy to type a URL and click a couple of times? If you DID look, maybe you could have told Xelag.

For those who have no clue which site this is, the URL is awbots.findhere.com. Other than that, I have no idea where to find it.

I think you can have your bot limit extended by 3 for another $20... might as well buy another citizenship.

In the future, could you post things like this in the general.discussion group? This has nothing to do with AW's SDK...

AWBot

Jul 9, 2001, 7:50pm
Interested in running AWBot? Well here's what to do :)

Send an email to Agent1 at my.activeworlds.com with the subject line "AWBot". The cutoff date for entries is Wednesday July 18. If you don't mail me by then, you will not be considered. Once a list of all of the candidates is compiled, I will send the list with my recommendation to the AWCI staff member in charge. In your email application, you should include one or more reasons (preferably more :)) why you would be the best person for the job. State any references, because the more experienced you are with bots, the more likely it is that you will be picked. Any people who have already signed up: You must re-send your application following these guidelines. Please include your citizen name and number in the email in case we want to contact you in Activeworlds.

*Do NOT* reply to the email address used to send this message, and do not reply to it in the newsgroups. Please only send applications to Agent1 at my.activeworlds.com.

That is not the point at all. I haven't really done anything with the world while I was in charge, and I would much prefer that someone else put the world to use.

Try asking in the Worldbuilders newsgroup; someone there might know. This is for the SDK, anyway, not world-ish stuff.

First, enter AW and set a Privilege Password (Options->Citizen... ). Then use *that* to login with the bot.

Logging telegrams *can* be enabled, but I don't think it is in the main universe. Even if it is, you are sending information through their servers... of course they're going to be able to read it. You have no reasonable expectation of privacy when it comes to AWC. It is not "illegal" in any way.

Wanted: 2.2 SDK

I don't think that would even connect to any current Uniserver, so why would you need it?

Who still has those? Isn't it mandatory to upgrade uniservers?

"The attributes AW_CITIZEN_COMMENT, AW_CITIZEN_ENABLED, AW_CITIZEN_TOTAL_TIME, and AW_CITIZEN_URL are new in version 3.1 and require at least build 18 of the SDK and version 3.1 of the uniserver." Plus, I would assume you'd need to be running the bot as citizen one (which you likely are).

The AW_CITIZEN_PRIVILEGE_PASSWORD variable is also new from 3.1.

That's likely because that's all the Uniserver returns in 2.2. If the attributes were only allowed to be accessed by bots after then, you won't be able to do it with the 2.2 uniserver/SDK.

Uhh... I'm sure it's illegal to use AW's software without their permission, so I don't think you should ask about it on their own news server...

Custom Bots

Oct 2, 2001, 7:55pm
Ever have a really good idea for a bot and not be able to implement it because you weren't a programmer? Need something done in your world but don't know how? Send me an email describing your idea, and I'll see what we can work out. I will charge for the bots, but the price will be determined on a case-by-case basis depending on complexity.
