::rolleyes:: Obviously if they're "lamers and wannabe hackers" then there
really shouldn't be any difference in AW, security-wise. Even if they actually had the ability to figure out portions of AW's security, plenty of other people also have that ability. -Agent1 [View Quote] we should...Aug 26, 2002, 11:46am
File sharing *is* legal... I don't know what you're talking about. If you
mean copying copyrighted music and distributing it without permission from the artist/record company, then say so. -Agent1 [View Quote] Yaha Virus.Aug 26, 2002, 7:40pm

Detect what? If they're just warning you that a file has the virus in it,
you might not be infected. If you don't have any of the symptoms, you're not infected. -Agent1 [View Quote] really wierd dumb questionAug 27, 2002, 10:26pm
Though they are designed to withstand such attacks/accidents, if the plane
were to get far enough through the containment shell and impact the actual reaction chamber... a meltdown *could* occur. -Agent1 [View Quote] XeonTVAug 28, 2002, 10:14pm

So if you don't know someone's address you'll run an ad in the paper with
your message because it's "the next best place"? Really, there's no reason to post messages to one person in a public newsgroup. -Agent1 [View Quote] Signup to project popcorn and get referrals! it rocks!Dec 18, 2002, 8:43pm
What are you talking about? Lots of the states have laws specifically making unsolicited, commercial email illegal.

Maybe if you posted it with the rest of your message, it would have been noticed. Goober doesn't leave half the content of his message in his little signature thingy, it's always just something extra that wouldn't change his post's meaning were it left out.

Not really. Many people use Microsoft server software without incident. In fact, Microsoft sent a Security Bulletin in July that described this very problem and provided a patch. Anything that happened after that is the fault of lazy system administrators.

Actually, it's the literal opposite... Netscape provides funding for Mozilla, and they use the results in their browser. Mozilla is a "testing only" thing where Netscape is meant for end users.

Being a world owner doesn't automatically mean you're a good beta tester. There *are* world owners on the beta team and just because you aren't one of them doesn't mean they aren't being represented.

I know that VRT doesn't change with respect to DST. Maybe they synchronize to the same source and it's made for VRT. Maybe the server people are just forgetful ;)

Since they're a private company again, they don't really have to. Would be nice, though.

I'm not trolling; I'm simply responding to you in the way you respond to other people. If you don't like it, stop doing it to others.

> And I don't quite think that post in the beta newsgroup wasn't being an ass, it's just you. > > "::rolleyes:: Just searched and noticed that this bug has been reported many times before. How come it's still around?" I asked a perfectly valid question. If a bug has been reported many times, it usually gets addressed. This one wasn't, so I asked. > Yup, it's just me being an ass all the time. I didn't say you were the only one. > Not you, I may be an ass sometimes, but I usually reserve it for people who don't respect other posters. > or goober, Nope. A virus can enter a computer that's not connected to the Internet. Just use an infected disk in a certain way and you can be infected as well.

You don't need to post large amounts of the file here... Norton Antivirus told me it was a Trojan Horse, but not which one. -- -Agent1 Please read / AW HACKEDJul 13, 2003, 8:30pm

I'm not an expert with the WinNT branch of Windows, but that's probably because the install program had to write to the registry and to the Program Files directory. Requiring administrator privileges to modify system components is a good idea, not a bad one. If you want to run the program after that, you should do it with a non-administrator account.

::rolleyes:: Threatening people with lawsuits is sure going to make you popular! Way to go!
> We have a right like any of you people in AW to offer our path at band-width usage only... No, you don't have the "right" to host files. > Any objects on our path are not the product for sale by us and are passworded against theft. I think this is where the problem is. You're using the fact that you have those objects on your path as part of the reason for people to use your path. I doubt that the object creator would let you do that if they wanted to be the only one selling their object. > People better get this shit straight or find yourselves actively on a civil court docket for slander I think you mean libel, but same thing, basically. Usually you would have to prove that the things they wrote were both untrue and that they hurt your reputation in some way. I wouldn't have even known about this issue if you hadn't written this foaming-at-the-mouth scream-mail, so maybe you need to calm down about the whole thing. Maybe the plugin is broken. Not everything that goes wrong while you're running Windows is automatically Microsoft's fault.
