The SDK doesn't handle telegrams to bots, so don't worry about it.

The browser uses the SDK as well, so some things in the SDK are only used by the browser and not by bots.

I think the point they're trying to make is that
Sdk.aw_int_set(AW_INT_NAME), 123
is not valid code.
What I think you mean is:
Sdk.aw_int_set(AW_INT_NAME, 123)

ohhh... Now I think I get it. It's like saying:
Sdk.aw_int_set (AW_INT_NAME), 123
I guess that would work but I agree with you that it's very misleading.

Not having worked with punch-card computers, I wouldn't know that's how one of those machines worked. How did it know which order to
put them in? Did each card have some sort of unique ID on them?

You're not paying $80 to "flick a switch for a background", you're getting your own world to build in. Activeworlds requires that the world owner be able to control the world background because otherwise many effects in lots of worlds would be ruined.
If you don't like the world background, complain to the world owner.

The world background is an attribute of the world; if a world owner decides to let you build, you may. If they decide to add your citizen number to the caretaker list, then you can change the world background for the world.
Being able to build and being able to change the background are totally different.

Your logic is flawed. Changing a background on a webpage is like being the one with access to a world's attributes and changing it there. What you're proposing would allow anyone to change the background image of any "public-use" website (IE - Not when the page is created, but when they view it).

Let's see what you get for that $80 fee...
$70 - "World 'License' " (...)
$10 - Actual fee to have a certain world; on renewal, this is what you pay.
You are not paying $80 to change someone else's backgrounds because THIS IS NOT CURRENTLY A FEATURE! If you own a world, you can do what you like with it. If you don't like AW's background, set up a local path that overrides it with one you can live with.

I think it would be more helpful to the programmer to know _what_ the bugs were.
Programmer: "Debug this code!!"
Compiler: "Do it yourself :O"

What on earth does the sdk event telegram do? If not, please tell me what it is for. Ethier way, please inform me of its correct useage. Thanks!

Interested in running AWBot? Well here's what to do :)
Send an email to Agent1 at my.activeworlds.com with the subject line "AWBot". The cutoff date for entries is Wednesday July 18. If you don't mail me by then, you will not be considered. Once a list of all of the candidates is compiled, I will send the list with my recommendation to the AWCI staff member in charge. In your email application, you should include one or more reasons (preferably more :)) why you would be the best person for the job. State any references, because the more experienced you are with bots, the more likely it is that you will be picked. Any people who have already signed up: You must re-send your application following these guidelines. Please include your citizen name and number in the email in case we want to contact you in Activeworlds.
*Do NOT* reply to the email address used to send this message, and do not reply to it in the newsgroups. Please only send applications to Agent1 at my.activeworlds.com.

Right now, nothing. That's the point :)
Anyway, as I first remember AWBot, people were able to build in a section of the world if they had a both that was custom programmed and they wanted to try it out. It was basically a world for bot programmers.
