A known trouble maker openly suggested that in = the newsgroups I am being singled out because I act as a GK at times and = have had to dispel certain people from teh AWGateway because of bad = behavior and abusive manners. I have a full set of standard GK macros = and my logs are always active. Keeps a fill record of the time I log in = to the time I leave and every 3 days I make new log and move the other = to a CDRW for backups and other needed purposes to maintain a peaceful = and enjoyable time for all at the AWGateway. Tourist Citizen GK and PK. = They gave me support and help, and I feel compelled to return that help. = So if it is true I am being brandished for doing this, then be assured I = will stop helping, and make sure I ignore all that aks for that help, = and yes I seem to get a lot of requests fro help, or know enough to make = sure they get to the right person or persons, or the proper place for = that help. It will cease and I willno longer try to be there when = needed, and not try to help at all. I know it's no great loss, but this = can happen to any of the actual GKs here. PKs too. So if thi sis true be = assured I am not going to visit the AWGateway ever again. be at the AW gate to be a pain and bore all the users to leaving, even though I have gotten several help requests, and not at my bidding but because they walk up to me. Hello ferrucio you are completely correct in what you say. Cliques and
Groups of people are gathered and only they can say what they feel is of approprate nature, me as an acting GK wann be well I am nor have I ever been a selective person, you do something wrong, then you are in trouble, and no more about it, and of course thi sincludes me, and since I have been so overly blasted about trying to assist and help, it will not be anymore. So be assured the Cliques and Groups will persist and flourish. I have noticed several posts in popen chat such as Active worlds sucks and many more from a user of the same name yet they are not ejected or even asked to change the name they are using or just go away. That is a problem, and as for the Rules, theyare for people who have a vocabulary of 7 or 8 words, and a limited ability to have a meaningful conversation. Typoes are inevitable because you need to get the information out asap because of todays world of faster faster information. If the converstaions of the people who are complaining about me are so vast and intellectual, then maybe it would be a valid and easily understood issue, but as it is, the understanding of a 3 to 6 word sentence is hard, I have not learned Ebonics yet, and have no plan to. So to any and all you don't have to worry about me being in the AWGateway and as for not being there for say 3 or 4 hours, well its hard to sit there and listen/read the things that go on, and a lot get passed by alltogeter. I for one think that the AWGateway should have a GZ that is in the middle of a set of signs that post the rules and expectations of the Gate to all who enter it. This would make it much simpler fo rthe user to see and hopefully read and understand. Could be in Eng/Span/Jap/Ger/ and even Russian, so that it would cover a wide range of users that visit from all over the world. Just makes more sense than I guess most can't grasp. Well well, gets a actual response from someone that is at least able to
surpass the 8 word vocabulary. Bravo to you. The thing you mention about the Swearing, well I have what is known as "Truck Driver Mouth" yet I can have a conversation without having to resort to the lesse wording of the people who feel it necessary to sware just to be heard. On this note, I would like to state that if the GK's on duty, and I know of several that are worth the time they spend at it, would not join into a group or clique to ignore the new users that arrive. The needs of the Torist is great, and many have arbitrarily just walked up to me because of the way I presneted myself at the gate and asked for help. Soit tells me one thing, the GK is not performint the task they have volunteared (sp??) for and then forget they are there as a GK and decide it's beyond them to have to help. I know of 4 GKs that are guilty of this, and many would think different. But that's ok, they know who they are. The truth is painful, and only the strong can survive it. They have honor and trust then. As for my being attached to someone does not make me a bad person. Just because he is a GK I expect him to perform his duties the same as the rest of the GKs are supposed to do.Be it may that I am so limited in my abilites and communications skills, why is it I am asked for help? Very much so. As for the Pricing, it is so reasonable 6.95 a month, I mean
how can you not be able to pay that minute amount? I am currently on the Unemployment lines, and still can pay a miniscule price such as 6.05, and If my memory serves me correctly, at one time the cost was 19.95 a month. a big difference to now. At that cost it was a cost prohibative price and made me just remain a tourist and not care. Now being a Cit the Gate is a good place to meet people from all over the world. If the Monitor of this Discussion Forum is looking in, please take the Signs Suggestion into account, it would make the GK assignment a lot easier for them, and not have to learn 6 or 7 languages or be a full on scholar of Languages. It takes tome to maintain th eGate = and I had very little time for the most part on certain days and had to = go almost as soon as I arrived. This has been an issue I have tried to = fix, but then I guess time has made it's work and got me the time I need = now. Nextly being a GK is an Honor, not a privelage, it is for you to = help and help be there for the user, not to sit and chat in the time you = are GK with the friends you hav emade, but to be there forthe "Tourist" = that is brand new, and talk them through the program setup, and = features. I have watched others try and get a lot of the features so = wrong it's not funny. Many have no clue of the Camera View and how to = setup the various keys to make the zoom feature work.Concering the = Macros again, there are E-Mail addresses for support and other issues, = and not one of the GK's I have seen in the AW world even gives these = out. Then the registration feature, to register press the register now = button, but what if they have no Credit Card!!?? Not one has mentioned = the Look to your Menu on top menu bar and then select help, and then = register and select the No CC option and it will give you the payment = options and addresses for sending your payment to. Then comes the costs, = it took ry and myself to make otehrs know that the Cost is 6.95 a month = and 69.95 a year. Please include your user name and a valid E-Mail = address for confirmation. If Ever I make my way back to the AWGateway I = will not make myself known readily and sit and watch you all. See if any = of these items get implimented even though I not supposed to know what I = am doing. Understand this A GK is a good soul person, not a spitefil = and hateful person just because anotehr has a better offering and has a = bit more knowledge to offer to them. Maybe that is why Many Tourists = came up directly to me at times and asked for private help. Anoterh Item the = Laptops issue, there was a CA on duty, and that was all when I first = came on AW after a few months of trying to find the program again. A gk = was there and having a time of it, a user was complaining about I can't = fly I can't fly help me please, I sat and watched, no one was coming to = her help. I finally volunteered as a Tourist mind you and helped this = person out and she was so very happy about it she flew and was elated. A = week later there was a new bot, the NewbieMon Bot with Laptop commands = and help. plus other things to help with the new user, the GK could have = said to the user if the GK was occupied, say newbiemon help, and they = could get the new user help and the GK would not be bothered from the = Chat or private discussion they were having. Now to the CA, many users = typed the World Rules many times yet cits and GK alike said oh no there = is that CA flooding again. They hav the CA say this for a good reason, = it helps the Tourist and Cit alike understand the basic rules of the = AWGateway and how to get other help if need be. Yet this feature has = been ignored because the GK is so wrapped up in the Private Discussions = and can not be bothered. Well it is a moot point, I was a Dial up once, and 28.8 at that. No 56K
hookup and I got tons of Downloaded graphics files and otehr things, yes it's slow slow slow, but did I go out to a newsgroup and complain thta if you make so many FAT files programs messages I hate you, you are a dimwhitted pinhead that has not idea what it is to have a file take hours to get the file to download, oh it's so so much to have to get a 500000000000GB file I can't get it for days, oh my it's going to take weeks now just to get a file that can't fit on my hard drive, oh why why are you doing this to me, stop it its too much I can't take it, programmers need to understand I don't have a 200000000000000000TB (Terah Byte) hard drive and 456782344444GB memory and the Os just cant see past oh 640K because Bill Gates says who need more than 640K nothing will get that big, lol. I was asked 8 times by several GKs on duty to apply, yet they nkew I was only a Citizen for 2 months, at the time 1 month, and still asked me to apply, so I did, but you think that being a Cit for 2 months is wqualification, no, it's not. 6 months and workign with the program is and then there is full training and for more than just the software, the hardware that many use is also an issue I have been a HARDWARE tech for 20 years, and fixed more system than most have seen in a lifetime, and that's the ones that the other techs could not figure out. so if therapy is the answer then plase pay for it fo rme, I am all tapped out, no job now and getting harder to find because it's a holiday time.
