Most all communities have 'public indecency' laws on the books, and have for hundreds of years....... it most certainly IS illegal
to walk around nude in public, unless in a designated area, such as a nude beach, resort, etc....... ask a cop sometime.... my best friend happens to be one... And bigamy also definitely is a crime.. albeit rarely prosecuted against...... but then not many ppl actually TRY to have more than one wife...... (aint one MORE than enough ? ) ;O) the only exception being, that I'm aware of, is if you're a professed and practicing member of the mormon church (Jesus Christ of latter day saints) They are by tradition of their religious beliefs, allowed to take more than one wife.... altough women may only have one husband......BUT, even they rarely do such... It just isnt practiced anymore. More or less a dead tradition, so to speak.... bit out of date. But still legal..... Thats because those "certain people" are also GK's and as usual the corruptedness of the GK program shows itself.... It's ok for a certain GK to advertise her little events and such, but not "normal" cits and GOD FORBID she doesnt like you, I saw exactly those kind of snotty at $$ little vindictive behaviours in person at the cy's this past year, when a certain *greeter* purposely attempted to sabotage an acceptance by a good friend of mine, when she won an award..... intentionally told her to be in the wrong place, told her too late, etc..... GK's should be proud of her... she makes a great addition to their little 'respectable' organization.... not that ALL of them are louses, only some, but it's kinda disgusting, if you ask me..... Most are only there for the power trip.. want to feel important without DOING anything for it.... Once again, this reared it's ugly head in a certain world, used to celebrate a certain event recently...... so many volunteered to help, oh yeah, we'd love to be there, and do this, and that, and so on, but didnt do s**t.... didnt even have the courtesy to, at the very least, attend the meetings to familiarize themselves WITH what they volunteered for, or were supposed to do....... But Ohhh, how quick they turned up when the event started...... ohh yes..... all the glory-grabbers were out on full display to show everyone "how much they DO for the community" :Op <gags>..... buncha total BS....... Absolute hypocrites, if ya ask me....... just wanna be 'important' without actually having to DO anything to deserve it..... *rolls eyes* Anyways.... as far as your need for donations is concerned, perhaps you could talk to some of the modelers here, and see if they'd be willing to donate a model, set, av, what have you...... might be able to make a few dollars from the proceeds of selling some donated objects, and use that to keep the world afloat... I realize it's not much, but it's something.... I'd be willing to make and donate something for the cause :O) I'm sure others would too ! Something to think about....... your thoughts ? Understood, but still the problem arises where you'd NEED to physically enter a world, to judge it. depending on the applicable
category, of course. which causes a bit of difficulty with the suggestion of having things "submitted", copied elsewhere, or what have you....... I mean, AV's and objects themselves are one thing..... but it's just not practical, I don't think, to reproduce whole builds or whatever, to enter them. And how do you determine exactly WHAT gets "sent" ?? especially for a world based category..... when the whole world atmosphere may greatly contribute to the overall effect and ambiance of the particular build....... anyways, certainly no EASY solutions to anything here...... just thinking out loud...... I'm curious as to how you propose to satisfy any apprehensions a modeler, av maker, or whomever, might have about their creations,
( be it models, textures, what have you ) being on "some other OP" ?? Hafta admit, I'd be wondering who had access to my hard work and might be reluctant to even allow it at all.... Would that exclude someone who truly didn't feel comfortable with having their work, on someone else's OP.... in someone else's world..... with god only knows how many people who have OP access ??? Do they now NOT get to "compete" ? I'm not flaming, or supporting any particular side of this arguement at all.
Just pointing out that the CY awards isn't run by AW..... AW only provides the world and such........ So the fact that you or me or anyone, for that matter, is a "paying customer of ActiveWorlds" really doesn't amount to a hill of beans :O/ The CY's are and always have been a seperate entity from AW. Whether that's a good or bad thing..... I don't know. Personally I feel a non-biased, impartial, third-party judging comittee would be best. People who don't really care about who's "popular" or in the "special circle" or what have you..... A comittee formed of people who aren't "buddy-buddy" with any particular faction, group, individuals or otherwise. A group of people who have no particular agenda, no desire for self-aggrandizement, who don't care to win any awards even. I don't deny the fact that everyone here has a right to their opinion, and I am VERY well informed when It comes to such matters as
are involved here. What I DO object to, is this ongoing america(n)-bashing campaign........ at least in here AW is a mutli cultural venue, for the most part.... many people from many countries, races, religion, backgrounds, etc. That much we all know... But I personally feel that AW really may not be the best place for all this arguement. I feel that all this does is create bad feelings, suspicions, anger, and even hate towards others here. No matter how well we think we "know" those others, we truly cannot without real personal interaction. Words are so easly typed and sent aloft into the ether we call the internet... I for one come here to enjoy some of my spare time, to unwind after a long day at work, whatever. I enjoy chatting with my friends from all over the world immensely, As do I enjoy modelling and building my own worlds. What it all boils down to, is the fact that I think most of us would agree that we come here for some manner of enjoyment. But all this dissention and negative talk takes so much of that enjoyment away. I'm sure I can't be the only one who feels this way....... Can't we just leave all the politics and such for more appropriate places and come here to enjoy ourselves. I thought that's what AW was supposed to be about Perhaps I'm wrong.........
