It is very well possible but you would need some sophisticated hacking
technology. To get the ports of the servers and the form of data transfer to
be interchangeable .

But AWCI would sue you for it

But if you want'ed it to be truly seemless you would have to have the data
flow be converted to the other format in less that a nano-second, anyhow
doing that is impossible because of the way that IRC scripts things and AW
doesn't at all (WHICH SUCKS BIG BANNANAS!) But up to you if you want to try
and defaet the sercurity. As far as I know you cannot use 2 SDKs in one
executable file, the commands could interfere. Also I know of no sdk for IRC

bot request/addition

Jul 30, 1999, 7:03pm
After the long process of dechipering Eep² linguistics (The most difficult
language to dechiper for our little minds) I have come to a simple soultion
written in ZonsKey linguistics!

1. Bot programmers make a seed bot that can seed and delete objects at a
given locale in a world.
2. Allow the bot to be fully manipulated. (As in all features can be turned
off on, changed whatever)
3. Create a simple dialog for the end user in GUI format to set a time for
when an object is to be changed and what settings are to be changed (To
change you would delete the old object and then seed a new one with the
proper changes)

3 simple steps to fullfil the great master Eeps wishes in ZonsKey
linguistics.

Collison detection for BOTS! Roland don't worry

Dec 17, 1999, 6:49pm
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

------=_NextPart_000_002C_01BF48A5.EDA23EA0
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset="iso-8859-1"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

This is one of those stupid things I think of that you little bot =
programmers can work out on your own time.

Items the bot needs in order to get Collision detection:
1.Object registry data.
2.Object data for area within 120 meter radius.
3.Way for the bot to comprehend this information.
4.Optional, Some way for the bot to get the avatar's relative size in =
relation to local objects.
5.Optional, You know how Preston downloads midi's and then get's the =
time for them someway to get at the rwx files and the bot to kind of =
render them without it visually taking place.

Steps to make collision detection.
1.!IMPORTANT! Get registry and Object Data loaded to the program for =
active use, possibly setting as a string type thing or something.
2.Get the bot's position in the world. Have it query within 5 meters of =
it's location for any object and have it check the registry to see how =
close the bot is to the object.
3. If the bot is within the bounding box of the object then have the bot =
declare something like "Ooopppps" or something.
4. If the bot is not within the bounding box of any object, excluding =
floor tiles, then have the bot continue with no error what's so ever. =
This would probably use very little code and not be so hard on the =
memory of the bot or bandwidth so it could be done fairly easily and =
constantly.

32-Bit values can be used in 16-bit adresses but they aren't processed as
effenciently I think because of the way the bits are alocated into bytes,
Remember 8 bits to 1 byte. 100 Bytes to 1 Kilobyte, but 1024 Kilobytes to 1
Megabyte. I don't know why this makes any sense any more because I lost my
train of thought.

BTW AOL actually stands for "America Just got Hacked Off-Line" or "America

"America Was Just Billed The National Debt Off-Line" man I could go on and

Odd idea

Feb 2, 2000, 6:40pm
This is a wish that would replace the need to go and get seedbots or what
ever has seeding capabilities to place an object in a distant area. It would
involve going to a seed range. An area out in the world set aside that has
some seed objects. You would go to this seed area click an object and it
would be attached to your avatar as a small box that holds the object then
you right click an open area and click drop object and it would place it in
front of you as the object you got at the seed area. The seed area wouldn't
have to be special just the objects people can click to get. The seed
objects could be determined by add a box to the world settings that would be
like:
__________________________________
Valid Seed Objects: |__________________________________|
These objects could have extra actions and descriptions attached to them.
Like say I click on the seed object and it has create color red, and
activate url www.activeworlds.com these object would then have a special
paper looking thing on the box attached to your avatar. It made be hard to
do but would be nice to see in aw3. The box could be customised by adding a
custom box.rwx to the Object path and then the box would look like the owner
wants.

Odd idea

Feb 5, 2000, 7:52pm
That may be a better idea but it would mean adding more code to the browser
and what not. Altough my idea just a way of animating your idea. I prefer
realism in virtual reality

Mar 30, 2000, 12:43am
I like the telegram feature but it is very difficult to manage it, I had a
huge amount of telegrams once and then ran that cloner program, it
accidentaly logged in as a citizen then downloaded my tgrams, I tried
combining the files to no avail and it wasted all my tgrams.

Bottom Line: Don't Clone and Don't touch that icky MS-DOS block character.

Note: Think about the MS-DOS thing and you'll get it after a while

A wishlist of important things...

The mirror idea is rather easy to limit it and not lag at the same time. =
You could simply have a mirror command which you specify angles at which =
you want to reflect. Like say you had a wall it would be like this in =
aw.

name: pp01.rwx
descript: test mirror object
action: create mirror at 45 then x,y,z reflect

deciphered it would mean 45 is the angle or relative angle at which the =
object is being viewed then it would tell the browser to look for =
objects at x,y,z area and then reflect them. The entire reflection =
process would probably be pretty intense on most cpus but I don't know.

Horizons
--
65.6.66.197 its cable its cool and uh free!
[View Quote] I can't wait hehe :-)

2. Second: Ok, I looked into the reflectivity thing and got a general =
idea of why Roland keeps telling me "No Way, No How." As I see it, =
reflectivity (mirrors and such) depend on a closed world atmosphere with =
set boundries

OK, so I have my browser normally set to 120M visibility. If I placed =
a mirror down, the browser would have to track another 120M worth of =
objects, and its another 120M per mirror object. That can realy add up =
and slow you down! Even if you programmed it to where it wouldn't =
render any objects outside the visibility of another object (say you had =
the mirror in a room) it would still have to render them because what if =
it were, for example, one of the new transclucent window panes you can =
put pictures on? It would just be the backdrop behind that!

4. what about custom object paths that the builder can specify? so =
instead of using an object from the main path (pict3.rwx) they could =
specify this as the object name:
<snipped irrelevant information>
The issue again rises about slowing down the people with all of the =
custom objects, but then again, visibility is limited (right?) so you =
would only be loading objects within a radius and (if you set it) of a =
certain size in KB... that would be worth it.
=20
You have to download the objects anyway -- it wouldn't be any slower. =
(OK, thats not exactly true. If someone were hosting objects on their =
56K connection then it would be a really slow download, however with a =
56K connection I would estimate your IP changes at least once a day (due =
to disconnects). No one would even try beyond once to host objects on =
their systems. Its not a big risk to add this feature :-)

5. Out of curiousity... At what point is active worlds going to =
actually advertise? Biggest complaint I get about AW is that people =
have no idea who or what they are... AW is great, indeed, but as it =
stands, their marketing sux. Word of mouth, while somewhat effective, =
shouldn't be depended on by a company with a listing on NASDAQ... I want =
to see a commercial during the superbowl for Active Worlds!

This is one of those annoying loops. You need money to advertise, and =
you need to advertise to make money. Maybe Venture Capital? ..... =
However, I COULD see this... "Who needs this superbowl stuff, anyway? =
If you love footwall so much why not get right in the action and play =
against people all over the world? You gotta make the FootballBot =
yourself but hey go for it!"

6. This one is probably a long shot but here goes: Hey AW! Since you =
enjoy the use of Animated JPGs, why not let some of us know where to get =
a program to make them? Animating a JPG file for AW manually is rather =
like jumping into a bathtub full of razorblades: I'd rather avoid it if =
I can... if there aren't any programs to automate the animated JPG =
process, then for the love of god, make one!

I would love to, but as you should very well know there is no time lol =
However I think this is a good idea -- any programmers want this nice =
job? People I am sure would take advantage of it!

7. I don't expect AW to actually do this one, but it would be pretty =
darned kewl: be able to run a java applet in a picture frame in VR. =
Java picture effects would REALLY enhance VR :)

That would be nice, however it would slow AW WAAAAAAAAY down. I love =
Java, don't get me wrong. In 1.3 the speed improvements amaze me. =
However, the Applet plugins still leave quite a bit to be desired...

Hope Roland ... actually reads this...

You wish lol ;-)

No you set multiple angles and then it would be more mirror like but =
other than that it would be rather difficult to implement a true mirror =
object. If they did it would lag most 3d cards to the dirt.

My town of msyterious junk

Dec 16, 1999, 8:41pm
Hey come and visit my strange odd collection of mysterious junk at AW 21345n
21345w. Many of my greatest projects are there. If you can find all the
hidden monies tell me via telegram and I'll give you a prize. So come and
visit today. Hottest item: "The Castle" It's funny because it has a large L
in thanks to the work of a build bot hehehe, I figured mold could grow and
grass could to so why not?

I believe there are some intresting things that Xavarella left way out in
the boonies coords are "aw 32554n 32551w" some nice long road there

The end of the world

Dec 17, 1999, 12:14pm
It really does exist. The end of the world. Located at 32764n 32545w, I
guess 32764 is as high as it goes.

Horizons

It works now

Feb 2, 2000, 4:41pm
Well even though this may be unrelated entirely to active worlds. I feel so
proud of my self for my 56k modem finally connecting at 48000 bps. It will
make my surfing much easier so build dense places!!!!

Active Worlds downtime

Feb 4, 2000, 6:26pm
Hey can somebody explain why Active Worlds is down. I can connect but it
won't login in.

Horizons

need some help

Feb 8, 2000, 9:50pm
This may be another stupid question but Windows95 has flipped out on me and
has made all my text large and blocky. Also little symbols windows uses are
replaced by 0, 1, r, and 8, 6, 5. I find you people here to be alot nicer
than the rest of the putrid AOL slime on the net
