I think it was very interesting to see the first impression an 'outsider'
gets when they first visit AW. I thought it was really funny when he said
the woman "... just took off her clothes.." LOL
Does anyone know when this aired on TV, or if it will air again?

I saw a show, I think on The Learning Channel, where two guys went out in
one night and made a crop circle like the ones on that page. It looks like
more work than it actually is. Maybe they will play it again sometime, it
was very interesting.
I think if there really is other life 'out there' they wouldn't waste their
time trying to let their presence be known by making pictures in fields. If
there really are 'aliens', and they were smart enough to get all the way to
Earth from wherever they came from, I think they would choose a less
primitive way of letting us know they were here.

Look at the circles on this page. Each of them were done in one night by
one man. If one man did that in one night, it would be possible for two or
three people to make the complicated crop circles on the page you gave us.

Hello,
I am not a computer hardware person, I just use them. I have an old machine
( HP 233mhz Intel) that seems to be working fine, until I try to use a
modem. The computer crashed about 6 months ago, so I just bought a new
machine then. I have been working on it about three weeks now. I had given
it to someone who was not a technician, but knows a lot about computers --
he also had a short temper. I got the machine back (which is when I bought
the new one) and left it lying around. I tried to boot it and I found out
the fan was somehow not connected and got that fixed. It now boots up fine,
and when I went to test the modem the computer was unable to connect with
it. I opened the computer to make sure that nothing was unplugged, which
nothing was. I then bought two separate 56K modems by different companies,
and tried them in all of the slots I had open, and the computer wouldn't
recognize or communicate with either of them.
I called tech support, and they told me that my motherboard may be fried.
Does anyone else think this is the case here? Thanks.
BCG

The fan was not working while I was using after I got it back, and I didn't
catch it at first. Do you think it could have overheated?

Why even write "We Don't Care"? I think people that don't have anything
polite to say to anyone should keep it to themselves. Another thing people
should stop saying is "I thought I had you on filter.... You are now
filtered...." .. because no one really wants to read who you are filtering
either.

Hello,
I was reading the paper today, and they had an article about one of the
newest features of WindowsXP (Microsoft's newest creation) which are called
'Smart Tags'. They allow Microsoft to add or override tags on ANY page on
the internet. MS can choose any word for a Smart Tag, and each time it
finds that word on the web, it automatically makes that word a link to a
page they want you to see. This happens even if the creator of the page has
it linked somewhere else. I personally don't think that Microsoft should
have the right to censor what I am viewing from my own computer!
Does anyone have any extra information on this?
Thanks,
BCG

Hello,
I see what everyone has said about this topic, and I will have to agree with
Moria. If you had a lot of people in your world, and a tourist came in
advertising in your personal world's chat with messages about "Trivia in
World X!", would you not get mad and eject him or her? I certainly would.
In this case, AW is being the annoying tourist -- and we are powerless.
Should we let it go just because the almighty AW is the one spamming us?
It was said that if you start your browser in AW or AWGate that the spam
message would go away very quick. If that is the case, couldn't they just
have the message in their own worlds? People pay for worlds because they
want users to enjoy it/ It defeats the entire purpose if AW tries to take
the people away into their own personal worlds.

Shame on you, WVRN Radio. Your display at the Cy Awards Ball speaks for
itself. It shows that WVRN is not trying to run a serious radio station for
the Active Worlds community. A radio station that is supposedly for the
community should be unbiased and neutral. It should NOT be used as a means
to insult a man who was in an auto accident ON AIR buy calling him a
"F***ing Cripple". That kind of talk is not even close to being funny, and
should not be said on a radio station for the 'community' that anyone could
hear. I don't think I could ever listen to, or respect WVRN Radio ever
again after this incident. I also think you should apologize for the
terrible words you said on the air.
There is no excuse you can give that will justify for the terrible things
you said on the air, and also for trying to ruin the Cy Awards Nominees Ball
for everyone by flooding the chat.
WVRN Employee: No, reason I did all that in the Cys was because AlphaBit
pissed me and scotty off...my citizenship only has 13 days left on it...so I
figured...hey why not just f*** Alphas day up as well?
You sure showed us WVRN.

I am glad that the problem is resolved, yet, I don't think it was a fair
solution to the problem. I think that everyone should have the right to
name their own world whatever they choose, as long as it's not vulgar. If
they are going to pay the money to have the world, or use their one-time
trial world, they should be able to choose the name. People should be
permitted to have opinions about other people, and be able to voice them.
It may be offensive to you, Xela, but you could think on the bright side
and be flattered that someone wasted the only world they are every going to
own on you.
I am not trying to offend anyone, but I think that some sort of free speech
should exist on AW.
Also, does anyone think that if this happened to a different person, that AW
would do anything? I think if it were the Average Joe in this situation, AW
wouldn't do anything.

I think you are took your anger out on the wrong person in this situation.
AWCOM had nothing to do with the selection of the world name, an individual
user did. I am not saying it was a good thing for someone to name their
world "XelaGsux", but considering a lawsuit against AWCOM over it?
Here is something I found on a site about Slander --
"WHAT ABOUT INSULTS AND EPITHETS? ARE THEY DEFAMATORY?
Generally, no. Usually they are seen as outbursts of emotion, with no real
substance, except to show intense dislike.
DON'T I HAVE A RIGHT TO EXPRESS MY OPINION?
Yes, so long as your statement of opinion is just an opinion, not containing
specific facts that can be proved untrue."
