Yes I too have had enough of the pointing of fingers and slander. Bad enough
to read it here but when people start taking their grievances to the Gate
area, in front of potential new customers... well that's just plain immature
and very, very sad. With all the expiring citizens, we need to put our best
face forward to encourage new registrations, not to mention free PR. If all
we can manage is to present ourselves as a community of bickering, trivial
(yes, trivial!) idiots who can't manage to control ourselves in public then
perhaps AW WILL be known as nothing but an over-emotional, mismanaged wreck
of an experience. Sure there are some legitimate problems that need
addressing. But there are some good people out there who, because of a
misunderstanding, have been given a nasty reputation because of tongue
wagging. Because I REALLY don't want to provoke flaming from some people who
don't know how to control their responses, I refuse to mention any names or
situations. Let's keep all this manure out of the Gate area please? It's not
fair to the people who don't want to get involved, or to the GK's who are
trying to help the new people learn the program and most importantly...it's
really giving the new folks a BAD impression of us.

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((you))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I am assuming you are the one Garnet spoke of. If so, it's a shame to know
all this immature ranting has come to this. You and I only met once or twice
and yet I already feel a profound loss with your decision to leave because
of all this. I just wish I could reach thru my monitor and knock some heads
together. However even doing that probably wouldn't knock any sense into
them. Instead of feeding into all this BS or leaving AW altogether to make a
statement.... I will simply use my option to "mute on sight" anyone who
continues to drag this out any further, either at the gate or here in the
ngs. I don't give a rip about who the hell I insult by doing this (which I
used to). And I highly suggest others do the same if they are truly as
sickened by it as I am. Perhaps then, things might die down, if enough
people use that "mute on sight" option. Perhaps then it'll sink in to those
muted that they are the fuel behind all the flaming and slander. (crosses
fingers)

To Hyper Anthony: true, a memorial site isn't "kosher" right now. But I
think it's a great idea for people to go somewhere and make a sign posting
the names of our AW family who are in that area so that we can watch for
them or understand at least why we haven't seen them online or heard back
from them in email. Some of us meet so many people in AW that it's difficult
to remember where everyone is from. I have so many wonderful friends in AW,
but I'll be darned if I can remember what part of the world they all live
in. I think if we do something like this, we can all band together and if
someone hears back from a hurricane victim, they can let others know that
person is alright or, God forbid... not alright. Perhaps someone can make a
huge bulletin board with the names of all the AW community affected by this
tragedy and keep it up to date as to how they are doing... and an email
address for that person too if they want us to know, so that we can keep in
touch with them and give them emotional support if needed.

I wasn't there but heard about some of the details. I'm really glad I didn't
invest all that money to go there for only "half" of the reunion. I will not
post here all that I heard or who told me, but I WILL say this... not much
effort was put out by AWI staff as far as making the 10th year anniversary
what it was anticipated to be.
If I had spent my hard earned money to go (which I would have had to work
overtime for), knowing that I was sacrificing other responsibilities and
going to all that trouble to arrange for vacation from work... you can bet
yer bippy I would have voiced my disappointments to both parties!!
Imagine coming all that way from another country or from the other side of
the country, only to find out that because of a disagreement amongst the
organizers, half of the group would suffer and both groups would be put in a
position to choose between whom to spend time with. These reunions are all
about meeting each other in person and getting to know people that you
haven't already met in AW. They're all about sharing our love of AW, not
bickering about whose plans are better. There should have been some kind of
compromise made in Boston, instead of division amongst the groups. Sides
should not have been chosen and I don't understand why more people didn't
speak up about it and just accepted the situation. I am very disappointed in
a couple of people who were in the group that were lucky enough to visit
AWI's offices because they KNEW what was going on, and could have said
something to the AWI tourguide within their group, ... they could have
protested or talked the 2 reunion organizers into some kind of
compromise.... but they didn't.
I don't know WHY the 2 organizers were at each other's throats but you'd
think some kind of agreement could have been reached to ensure the
attendee's had a great experience. But unfortunately most of them suffered
great disappointment. The banquet area was pretty much empty and nobody from
AWI came for the dinner. Sure, both groups were given a grand tour but with
a sour feeling for all.
And most importantly, WHY did AWI not accept the one group into their
offices to show them around? From what I heard, lunch was more important to
AWI's staff and the group was to be satisfied just looking in the windows at
the darkened office. >_<

Who does one contact if one needs something deleted? Wasn't there a group
(besides AWI) not too long ago that did that? If you go to 8971S 9021W in
alphaworld, you'll see what I mean. Some idiot filled up a huge amount of
land with pict objects in rows, with an activate teleport on all of them.
They did it 4 years ago and obviously don't plan on using it for anything.
It's a huge waste of space for other people who want to use that area. This
definately would NOT be considered "historical" in any way.
