Or at default just leave it like it is, but in the World Features, have an
"Override Terrain0 To Filename ________". That's all you would need. -Kenneth [View Quote] Have Terrain0 be a different file name set in the World FeaturesMay 5, 2006, 12:01am
I guess while I'm on the subject of terrains, I would LOVE a limitless
terrain amount. Like if I wanted 300 different terrain textures to change them once in awhile with different sets, like seasonal sets. I don't remember the limit right now, but I know it's less than 70 or so. -Kenneth [View Quote] Have Terrain0 be a different file name set in the World FeaturesMay 5, 2006, 1:35am

Thanks! It works perfectly. I figured out that I just use the php script on
1 world and set the script to first view the OP with that world's terrain and then set the script next to view the second OP. Then on the second world, just use 1 OP that has that world's terrain and the rest of the files. -Kenneth [View Quote] Joining worlds side by sideMay 15, 2006, 3:15pm
Or even have AWI have a new community world that they own, but like in
AWTeen, have terrain used with a bot and also with a bot to set perimeters for your land and make it like 50 coords by 50 coords limit per person. And have the ability to add your own object path, using a bot too, just 1 object path per person. I'm sure the multipath php script could be implented to the bot somehow. This would have to be a big world, so maybe like a P-20,000. Also have the ability to tell the bot to erase your area if you don't want it anymore and put it back to default flat land. The only things AW would have to set themselves is the sky and user limit. For the water, you can tell the bot which textures you want and what elevation you want it at. This would be really cool if it is done right. The only problem I guess is AW might lose money on people buying worlds, although if they wanted I guess they could charge for these plots of land, but have them cheaper than a regular world would be I hope. -Kenneth [View Quote] FlashlightMay 15, 2006, 11:19pm
I bet 4.1 will be able to have this. But it would be cool if you could walk
around with a flashlight that shines a bright light ahead of you. Maybe using the 4.1 rider objects, someone can make a tiny flashlight to be with, that has a light command in it. Worlds could turn almost completely dark and it would be more of an adventure exploring them. -Kenneth "Lock Av Pos" needs to be checkmarked on Default.Jun 22, 2006, 5:45pm
I had this problem and others have had this problem. You can't run a vehicle
unless you checkmark "Lock Av Pos". As far as I know, the vehicle is absolutely worthless because you can't even be put inside the vehicle without this checkmarked. I don't even know why it's an option. But please have this checkmarked on default. -Kenneth "Lock Av Pos" needs to be checkmarked on Default.Jun 22, 2006, 6:54pm
When using Camera's Zoom feature, be able to download the objects from far away.Jun 28, 2006, 7:39pm
I tried to setup a camera as like a telescope in my world so people can see
stuff from far away using the zoom feature. But all it showed was a bigger picture of what people can already see from that location. I want to be able to have objects and textures download that you can see through the camera from far away. -Kenneth Zone able to block top world water texture.Jun 30, 2006, 4:06pm
Zones are pretty cool in being able to block what it looks like underwater.
But they cannot block the top texture of the water. So it looks a bit weird having a cave entrance that people go down and through the top water texture and have no underwater. So I hope they can make it so it blocks the top texture.. although I don't know if it is possible unless they put some kind of variable on the water texture in the world server that the zones recognize to cancel out. -Kenneth Same Avatars For All WorldsJul 27, 2006, 5:01pm
Wasn't 4.1 going to have a new feature that allowed us to use the same
avatars in all the worlds? I was wondering if the reason they stopped that is because people might make indecent avatars and use them like in G rated worlds. I just now thought of an answer to that though, have AW make a set of special avatars, like 100 of them or something, that are G rated and can be downloaded off the AW website and automatically installed into the AW folder and used right there. Or, like the PK program, have another program that people go to if they make their own avatars so they can approve them to be used in all worlds. It would need special coding so people couldn't hack in their own indecent avatars. -Kenneth Same Avatars For All WorldsAug 10, 2006, 2:52am
Sounds interesting. So the worlds that use it will have sort of a secondary
object path for avatars, textures, and seqs. I don't know if world owners will have to pay for that, but as you said, the people that use them will. -Kenneth [View Quote] Zone Building LimitsAug 1, 2006, 6:00pm
They need to setup zones to be able to limit building rights to that zone
only. Would be good for setting building limits for people in your world, or just put a * and let anyone build in that 1 zone. This would make it a lot easier to stop people from vandalizing a world. And easier to set up building limits for certain people in your world by just making 1 big zone and setting it to that person's rights only. Make it just like any other rights with AW citizen numbers and commas for more than 1 person. They also can go on from there and set it up for tourists too by using their email address instead of their citizen number. I'm sure some bots can do something like this, but I've never seen any, and I don't like running bots 24 / 7. -Kenneth Keep Particle Emitter Animation GoingAug 4, 2006, 12:29am
Every time I slide the bar on my Contact List, the Particle Emitter
animation stops, then when I stop sliding the bar, the Particle Emitter resets itself back to the beginning location. Why not just keep them going? I understand if AW is out of focus using a different program then it's probably good to use the video card on that other program, but just sliding the bars on the Tabs window isn't using another program and AW still stays in focus. -Kenneth Merry Christmas Everyone :)Dec 23, 2004, 11:47pm
I want to wish everyone a great Christmas. NORAD will be tracking Santa
Christmas Eve, which they do every year, at http://www.noradsanta.org/english/ Thank you Andras and Diane and others for the Christmas Hunt. I had a blast. I hope everyone has a fun and safe holidays. Dick Clark won't be doing New Years because of a stroke he had recently, so Regis Philbin will be doing that this year. Hopefully 2005 will be a prosperious and exciting year for all of us. -Kenneth Could Lighting in AW be brought back?Jan 7, 2005, 9:16pm
Many Coronas would make much more lag than light does. Coronas are seen from
further away. Please bring back the light to 10m because 3m is nothing much at all, you can't light up a house or cave or things like that. If there is such a bad lag problem, then I suggest do exactly what you did with Visibility except make it just for light and have each person set their own maximum light radius. -Kenneth [View Quote] Invisible Wall Is Around AWGateJan 28, 2005, 12:56am
Others probably already know, but tonight I journeyed to the end of AWGate
where you come to an invisible wall where you cannot walk past or teleport past. The NW corner is 32764n 32764w you can see a photo I took of the place, to see the coordinates. Another interesting thing is, Im sure most of you already know, is that the ocean ends and it becomes land... but I don't remember those coordinates. Here is the photo I took: http://www.actionmovies.org/misc/nwcornerawgate.jpg -Kenneth Invisible Wall Is Around AWGateJan 28, 2005, 1:29am
Ahh woops hehe, last time I've been to the end of AW world, I was using an
earlier version which let me go farther out. -Kenneth [View Quote] AW Website is downFeb 5, 2005, 8:51pm
It is Saturday afternoon PST and www.activeworlds.com website isn't working
for me and another person. I hope they fix it soon. -Kenneth AW Website is downFeb 5, 2005, 9:40pm
Lighting in AlphaworldFeb 6, 2005, 7:50pm
AW has never had a day/night cycle as far as I know. And I really hope they
don't do it. People with older computers see absolute blackness when they look at the ground, no objects, nothing. I would think if they did put a day/night cycle, they would change the sky too. So I'm sure they are trying to fix problems they have run into recently. Using my Dell 2 Ghz. with 64 MB Video RAM, the darkness looks really bad. It's like wearing reall dark sun shades in an art gallery, what's the point? If you want a roll playing type setting world with day/night, just buy a world and put a bot in there. -Kenneth [View Quote] Railroad WorldFeb 27, 2005, 2:08am
MasksMar 3, 2005, 5:12pm
In 2002, when I made the Corona Yard in AW, I made a VERY large section with
all the known masks. The only difference is, all the masks are turned into coronas instead of a regular opaque object. Here is the coordinates if you want to check it out: 12733s 28441e facing East in AW world. -Kenneth [View Quote] MasksMar 3, 2005, 7:36pm
You're welcome :))) I'm glad people like you are enjoying the yard. :) I'll
check out yours now too. -Kenneth [View Quote] MasksMar 3, 2005, 7:40pm
AW Inspired By book "Snow Crash" by Neal StephensonMar 14, 2005, 2:50am
I just read on http://www.answers.com/activeworlds that in 1994, AW was
inspired by the book "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson. Looks like a pretty cool book, has anyone read it? Even has a guy named Enzo in it. The product description says: " In reality, Hiro Protagonist delivers pizza for Uncle Enzo's CosaNostra Pizza Inc., but in the Metaverse he's a warrior prince." Interesting, might give it a read sometime soon. Lets have [StockQuoteBot] back!Apr 27, 2005, 12:05am
I didn't think AW Inc. had stock back after they split from AW Corp. Or
something like that happened around 2002. -Kenneth [View Quote] PeaceKeepers: A Modest Proposal (rant)May 7, 2005, 3:34pm
You all have an interesting idea, except for one thing, newbies don't know
what the heck PKs are. They don't even know how to click a sign. They wouldn't know to say "PK Help" or anything. If 1 or more people grouped up against a newbie in the AW GZ, that person for sure would never come back. Remember, newbies don't know anything, except how to get to where they are and chat. There are ways around bad word detection bots too. I think, either make the entire AW world PG-13 (GZ area is either G or PG right now) and remove the PKs altogether from there or make a bot that teleports people to 1 out of 100 places at random so there would never be a place newbies would know about that would be a gateway for that world. People that aren't newbies can make a meeting place somewhere there and spread the coordinates by hearsay. -Ken [View Quote] |
