I think since AW is asking (rather much) money for the allowance of tourists
in a world, it would be nice that it would show in the Worlds List, if a
world is open for tourists or not. That means that beside green and red
worlds a 3rd color should be added.
This way world owners get some value for the $ 60.- a year they pay cause
tourists will be able to find these "open" worlds quiet easy in the list of
about 1100 worlds.
Maybe it should be possible for world owners to decide themselves if they
want their world(s) to be shown in that 3rd color.
Curious what u think....

backgrounds r white, so the backgrounds of the balls could become red, green
and blue....

hello there,

Since I am new in (trying) to make objects on my own, I am searching the net
for tutorials for beginners for TrueSpace 3.2.
I have downloaded 3.2 (cause its for free) to see if I can create some
objects. Uptill now I found it hard to find some tutorials for the real
beginner that helps me. Things like a wall with a window, or an arch... For
sure they r there, but it might be an idea to have them listed somewhere for
beginners like me to get going with the program.
Besides for beginners I guess it would be good to have advanced tutorials
listed aswell, tho I found many advanced ones on the net.
Maybe any-one of u knows if there is a list like that, if not, I'dd sure
like to have some tutorials for starters.

Well I know they don't like tourists walking around... prolly because they
can't make money out of them. But now if worldowners are paying for the
tourists, I think it would be fair to award the worldowners for that by
giving them a 3rd color.
This way it becomes more attractive for more worldowners to pay the $ 60,-
so aswell as AW as the ones who like to have visitors in their worlds will
profit of it

Well after having seen the picture of the world ball icons I noticed the
background of all balls is white. Since they r seperate icons, it is no
problem at all to give the background these 3 colors... Its simply that
easy...
All the balls can stay the way they thought of them now... just the
background will be red green or "blue"...
Might solve the problem??

Other option that someone mentioned in other newsgroups (whislist and
worldbuilders) was: make cit worlds name bold and tourist worlds name normal
font... not bad either I think, wich does not interfear with the new
icons....

I just posted this in the community newsgroup as a reply that AW is open for
tourists.... Then I started to read all this here. I agree in much Dracula
is saying.... This is what I wrote b4 I saw the discussion over here and
thought it could fit in the discussion over here too:


Have AW open for tourist this next comming year... there is a war comming up
where many innocent ppl will be killed by US army, and maybe even the
international community... Start a memorial for them too aswell for the
soldiers that will not return to their homes...
Also a few hundreds of thousants will die of aids in Africa and other places
in the world... lets pay them some respect too.... And what about the
millions that will die of hunger this comming year... If we had not send up
that many billions of dollars costing piece of metal up in the sky, we might
have been able to save many of their lives... prolly more than 7.... Nature
will strike again all over the world cause we all seem to refuse to do
sumfin structual bout global warming. US upfront that does not even want to
live up the Kyoto guide lines....

Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry too for the astronauts that let their life
up there... but they where just doing a dangerous job and they knew the
risks... I feel sad for their families aswell, who lost their
husbands/wifes, fathers/mothers... but everyday many ppl loose their life
doing their job for much less pay... Why is it that an astronauts life is
worth more than a construction builder, or a sailor, or a truckdriver... or
whatever job u (who reads this) do.

Prolly I am the only one, but more than 7 ppl died that day, so why the big
fuzz about only these 7.
I really ask myself if there r not bigger issiues in the world right now
than those 7 astronauts we should worry about... and think that many of us
even support covernments that r ready to go out and kill a much larger
amount of ppl or allready doing that.

Clever thinking Bowen... I think of it this way: Its up to the individual
what he or she wants to explore. Just know the risks in advance and don't
complain afterwards if things go wrong. Become a Formula1 racer and u know
the chance of dying will become much larger than it is compaired to other
jobs. Why should others feel sorry bout the descission some persons make?

The big difference between 9/11 and these 7 is that the 7 died while doing
their job of wich they knew what risks are. 9/11 is a huge disaster where
about 3000 ppl died and didn't knew what was going on, just had a safe job
and had nothing to do with.. well lets call it "the silent war"
Its fine by me the space shuttle was in the news, but the over reacting of
the ppl on news like this I don't understand. How come they don't do that
when an airplain falls down with 100-300 ppl in it? I don't know figures,
but lets say about 20 of these large plains fall down every year. Its in the
news yes, but thats it. Suddenly this 7 ppl died, actualy a very small scale
accident and half the world turns upside down. I simply don't get that....
The point I am trying to make here aswell as some others do here like count
Dracula, If ur gonna get upset, get upset bout things that really matter.
Things like war where on purpose many many ppl will be killed. Get upset
bout hunger in the world, Get upset bout aids, Get upset bout Global
warming. I don't really care where u get upset about, just don't get upset
bout the nose of Micheal Jackson, ur new sweater, or 7 astronauts....
Believe me, there r more important things in life...

Finaly some-one is talking bout yellowstone aswell... I am/was not one of
the AW regulars. My virtual life over here started in yellowstone 4 1/2
years ago and thats the place where I did my first building. Yellowstone was
indeed the world that made me decide to become a cit soon after I visited
the first time. My rl girlfriend did aswell soon after that.
Yellow had its own humor and the regular cits there "protected" their yellow
is if it was their own. Newcomers sorta had to prove they fitted in in the
yellowstone community and were given often a hard time. But ones passed, 90%
would change their tourist suit for a real cit.
As facter says yellow used to be in the top 5 of best visited worlds for a
long time, but its fully empty now. That is a pity... a real pity! Many cits
left, some became tourist cause of the price-increase and can't even visit
their world wich they helped grow and made sure it was populair for many
years...

Now I hafta say that not just the price increase is the reason of the dying
of yellow: Its true that the yellow community had a sorta more adult feeling
compaired to AW. The *F* word was maybe more used there compaired to AW and
the jokes were maybe a bit more sexualy loaded compaired to AW, still yellow
(I think) was still more "neat" compaired with the average language u hear
in movies, television or in the street. Yellow used to be very populair
amongst Europeans and Australians who r not that fast offended by some words
they might hear. Besides that we sorta corrected ourselves if things went to
far.

Last year Active Worlds policy changed in a way that they made sure a PK or
PKbot was full time at GZ present in yellow. This hunted most of the ppl out
of there. After 4 years I got kicked out for saying G-string... (I was
allowed to say "boxershort" btw. Can u immagen how things went there the
last year. The sarcasm to some of the PKs grew immence or even turned into
hate against them (wich the better ones don't deserve). Even I leave a world
as soon as I see one enters, while they had been doing a fine job for many
years. Now it seems some of them have the most fun if they can break a
community down.

So for me the big thing besides the price-increase is the way citizens r
treated as kids by Active Worlds. I will turn 39 years of age next month and
my parents did a fine job by raising me as a quiet normal adult. I, and many
with me don't need and r certainly not waiting for a nanny, calling
him/herself PK if they r not needed. I have met some great PKs who do
understand that.

The option "Cit" or "Premium Cit" I don't like. Ppl pay, or they don't. So
the ones that pay (cits) get the options that the ones that don't pay
(tourists) don't get. Simple as that. I don't like the idea that u get an
elite group where (if it does exist) AW will work harder for since they pay
most of it all... Why would there be any development for "ordinairy cits"
wich in fact will become "the new Tourists".

AW should introduce a discount on long term users or sumfin. Nobody is
interested in these 3D homepages. There is hardly any left. Some tried it
but almost all let it go. To give NewAW to the Premium cits only would be a
huge shame since the cits that r still here now have been paying for this
NewAW by the raise of prices... NewAW is needed for AW to convince tourists
to become a cit in AW instead of having them leave to other universes... not
to create an elite world where others have been paying for this last year.

Last option could be: Change the name ActiveWorlds to: ActiveGorWorlds. They
seem to do fine in the universe. If I was a kid of 12 years old, I would set
my ratings at "X" (the kids know better how to change their settings as
adults do) and yell out: 24! as soon as age is asked. No-one checks age
anyway. Wear a nude avatar and test what these avatars can do nowadays...
Its better that Playboy Channel! Loads of fun! What a succes AGW would be...
wish I was a 12 yr old.... I would even be allowed to say G-string in these
Gor worlds... WOW !!!

At the AW site (http://www.activeworlds.com/products/truespace.asp) is said:
System Requirements

Windows 95 or Windows NT, 486 PC (Pentium Recommended), 16MB RAM, 15MB free
hard disk space, VGA Graphics, (3D video card recommended).

Currently trueSpace3 is available for Windows95/98 and NT 4.0 only.

So it will prolly not run under XP.

Allready for a year I wonder for who the sign is ment at AW GZ wich says:
"Join the largest & fastest groing nation in the Cyberverse. Become an
Active Worlds citizen... "

Is that sign at GZ ment for the tourists that can't come in there anymore???
Or is that sign ment to show us all how much AWI is really interested in
updating and containing their worlds.

Besides that I only see the community getting smaller and the amounts of
worlds going down.... weird... Well I'll keep watching the moving clouds
we have nowadays, no-one left to talk to anyway...

Yep, its a nice one this one... It ended up in my mailbox too... but there r
always some simple things to avoid virusses to do their job:

- Never open attachments if ur not sure WHAT it is... (not from WHO it is,
cause sender might not know he/she did send it).

- If the mail does not make any sence to ya, just delete it.

- In this case the virus works different: This virus does not contain a
visable attachment. It opens a download dialog screen itself (is hidden in
the html encoding) and askes u to save or open the program it wants to dl...
In that case always remember u didn't ask to dl sumfin so cancel right away,
delete the message, and also empty ur deleted items bin.

- Far out the best protection for me still is: JUST DON'T USE MICROSOFT
OUTLOOK or OUTLOOK EXPRESS!!
Bout (I dunno) 99% of all virusses r written to work with Outlook (Express)
cause outlook reads the content (code) and just starts executing it.
Programs like Netscape don't do that therefor a virus like this one will not
harm ur system at all. Its just being ignored...

- Always contact the sender (if known by u) so he/she can get rid of the
virus to avoid new infections

- Last and most clear one: get urself a decent virusscanner and firewall and
make sure u get ur updates in time...

Hope these simple tips r helpfull enough for ppl who r not computer
experts... prolly there r other and better ways to protect urself, but the
rules above will protect u from almost anything..

Getting some nice reactions on that message there. See:

Now the background of the balls could become red, green and (lets say) blue.
An other option could be the names of the world in bold for cits, and normal
font for tourist allowance.

B4 u start reading I hafta warn u: It became quiet a long story, but I guess
it will be worth to read:

Yes light form... I did mean "the US army". Lucky for me, that little human
error did not cause Collateral Damage. I suppose u know the expression
Collateral Damage quiet well since the expression was invented by the
Pentagon. "Collateral Damage" was for example used by the Pentagon when one
of those "smart" bombs had entered a shelter for a few hundred civillians in
Iraq and had blown them into 1000 pieces. Israel now loves to use that
expression aswell since the introduction of it by the US. One example; They
thought they had found a place where granates where made in Gaza City. They
blew up about 20 shops and several workshops to get that one place...
afterwards it seemed the place wasn't there... Collateral Damage.... I
don't know if they broadcast things like that in the US, but they do over
here.

I always wonder, what many ppl in the US think why the attaques at the US
took place by these extremists. It is not just because they hate u, and it
is not because Allah tells them. More important is why do they hate the
Western World (wich includes the Netherlands btw, where I live). The main
reason is that the few of us Western ppl (1st world ppl we call them) own
over half of this planet. Besides that we have uge amounts of money that we
all keep to ourselves. If my neighbour rings my doorbell telling me he is
hungry I tell him to fuck off and get a job. That is what we call
"civilisation". Now I have been traveling for a few years and have been to
many places where ppl did not have a 10th of what I have. I could knock
their door and they would share the little food they had right away with me
and offered me a bed. These ppl we call "not civilized" yet.
We have a car, a video, cd-players, dvd even, surround systems, amusement
parks, cinema's, a computer, mobile phone... We wanna go out every weekend,
go on holliday twice a year, travel the world... well u mention it... Even
if u had just half of what I just mentioned ur one of the lucky few. Our
Western world has medicine for almost everything, schools, billions of
Dollars to send ppl up in the sky by plain or even space shuttles... We have
insurances, the farmers have good soil, we have technology for who knows
what. Sometimes we sell a bit of that to the 2nd and 3rd world, but we made
sure the money they payed came in our pockets. never theirs!
The ppl of the 2nd and 3rd world countries had the bad luck that God made
them to be born there... Even worse, some of their parents r Muslim, Budhist
or or Hindu... Well, u would say God had his fun at that moment, but no, he
even gave 'm black hair and a dark, red or yellow skin, so they would be
easy to reccognize by us Western ppl.
So at some point in history we thought; "well... we have everything, but its
not enough yet". We Dutch were great at that, so we went among others to the
US to kill the Indians and made the land ours, we went to Australia, killed
most of the aborigionals and made the land ours. Same story for Africa and
South-East Asia... everything that was worth something we "stole" with our
Armys... We should have known the black mud in the ground would become
usefull some centuries later, cause then we would have occupied those
countries at that point aswell. but we thought its was just dessert, so we
left them. But I hafta say: we have been kind too... we invited some of
these 3rd world ppl to our 1st world ... we called them slaves.
Now in our times things changed a bit... some parts of the world that was no
real use to us we gave back to the ppl that lived there, and since we robbed
their countries empty we left them with nothing. These r the ppl that knock
our doors now and tell us they r hungry. Some food is all they want. Our
answer to them is: "Fuck of and get a job!" Maybe... maybe sometimes when a
few kids of them died of hunger allready and the guy that knocked our door
is to weak to knock again, we give him one dollar so he gets well enough
again to realize that he has been fucked by us. With a little luck he can
live an other year. When he does have anything that might be worth
something, like coffee, tobaco, diamonds, we still concidder it ours. We
give the man even two dollars so he is healthy enough to be able to dig it
out of the ground or grow it for us. Still he ends up with nothing.
Now I told u bout the mistake we made in that desert... The place where the
oil is. Their society grew strong enough in history by trade between
south-east Asia and Europe. Their dessert happened to be in the middle of
that. Their Allah was smarter than our God, cause he left a desert: Oil. Now
u know we 1st world ppl r bad loosers so considdered that oil ours anyway.
We where wrong there.
Bush and the rest of our 1st world now allows North Korea to sell nuclear
weapons in the open to the rest of the world. Bush allows Pakistan to
threath India with nuclear weapons, and allows India to do the same. We all
allowed the Muslim Government in Sudan to kill over 2,000,000 of the
Christian Sudaneese population !!!! Until China said (last year) they where
going to dig for oil in Sudan. Bush knew to stop more or less the war in
Sudan on condition that China would not be allowed to dig for oil there....
The Oil is considdered to be for the 1st world. Not for China!

Saddam is a Basterd yes... but no prove still is there that he has the
weapons, the US claims he has. This while North Korea is selling them in the
open... Why not attack North Korea? or Pakistan? Because there is no oil...
simple as that.
Now the 2nd and 3rd world r rather pissed off about the attitude we have
here in the 1st world. They r mad cause we r never willing to share or help
them with their education or with medicine or what ever. We r not even
giving them worth for the goods they sell, unless its sold by a 1st world
company. This raised some, not many, but a few extremists that r comming for
revenge or at least to shake us awake a bit that things r not in the right
perspective. The ways they choose r not always mine, but lets say that's
"Collateral Damage" they couse. The rest of them is just asking for a little
bit of help... thats all...
Ever wondered why the US is up till now alone in the UN and the rest of the
1st world to attack Iraq?? Could it be Bush is wrong at this point??
Allthough the extremists hardly say they r acting in the name of Allah, be
sure Bush will not hasitate to call out Gods blessings over the comming
bombs at Bagdad. Lets hope for us God will not fail us this time...

Well I'll try to answer ur questions:

Collateral Damage. I used that cause I truely believe that if the US wants,
they can take out Saddam just like that. Might not be to easy, but they will
be able with special teams to take him out. No-one will be killed xept
Saddam and maybe some of his guards.
But no, There has to be a huge war, all the world has to get involved,
prolly many soldiers on both sides and civilians wil be killed or will be
damaged for the rest of their lives. For me it seems a big show has to be
performed to show how wonderfull our weapons r, it will be a great practice
for our soldiers and fantastic for the Image in and outside the US as being
the protectors of the world. If there is sumfin as a protector of the world
it is the UN, not the US. The fact that they r willing to send out ppl of
wich some to a certain death, they call that Collateral Damage. Its a
wonderfull excuse afterwards for things that went wrong. The problem is that
it is known upfront. Ofcaurse they will try to reduce losses of life, but
the ones that will die r Collateral Damage, so they won't hafta feel
responsible for them really... its just a part of the game... I can't stand
that we in our times can make decissions like that. I refuse to be
responsible for killing ppl. As soon as I support a war like this I am
aswell responsible for the ones who will die... Collateral Damage is an
expression that I would not be able to explain to a God if there is one...

in raw dollars the US gives the most indeed, but in percentage u score the

Not by rejects only... I think even mainly by immigrants who where looking
for adventure, surching their luck elsewhere, Land of new opportunities, and
so on.. Also Amsterdam here is populated by over 50% foreigners. So believe
me, the melting pot is here aswell. But please agree with me (I have seen it
with my own eyes when I was in the US) that cleaning jobs, lower payed jobs,
r mainly done by the colored ppl. Higher positions r mainly posessed by the
white ppl. I don't know the exact figures of the US, but don't tell me the

sure, but I am convinced that the seperation of the races is much larger
than anywhere else in Europe.... Unfortunatly I can not prove that by
figures. Gay ppl r still a curse for many ppl in the US, U have one of the
highest percentage af criminality in the 1st world, and I might be wrong,
but I think u have the highest percentage of murders and prisoners...

True, true... I was sorta talking about 5-6 centuries of world history in

Sudan ur talking about. I said: "Bush knew to stop more or less the war in
Sudan." I used more or less cause the war is not completely over, but there
is a sort of (how u call that in English) stop of shooting. (u know what I
mean). This is achieved cause the US has done some promises in trading,
supports aid programs more than b4 and other diplomatic arrangements. All
this in a way that it was attractive enough for the Sudaneese to stop their
war and not to allow the Chineese to dig for oil there. I know all this out
of first hand cause I happen to be involved with Sudaneese refugees. So we
get reports from thei families there in Sudan.
I can immagen that it was not in the news in the US cause as u know Osama
Bin Laden is Sudaneese and has been well protected by the Sudaneese
government in the past. Now doing business with Sudan is not good for the
internal politics in the US. Prolly websites of organisations like Pax

What did we do to them? I told u in my last story... we totaly forgot them
while we were making money. Loads of money. We don't give them the chances
we have (schools, we don't help them with there debts, and so on), well we
do a little bit yes... a little bit. We could solve many, or at least some
of the world problems, but we rather spend our money to space shuttles,
weapon industries and Valentines gifts... We think those r more important
than food or water for our neighbours in this world.

Ur allies: Britain... as u know there is this special bond since Churchil
had to beg and beg for help from the US wich the US was not willing to give
at all untill Germany declared war to the US... The US had to then! Read ur
history book. Britain had to sign for this bond for the future. Britain
Government is behind the US because of this, but far most of the Brittain
ppl r not at all...
Australia who's president went to the South Pacific islands to tell the ppl
there he does not care that their islands where they live on would vanish
cause of global warming. He had more important matters to deal with, he told
in the open, like the unemployement in his own country. Well thats someone

U forgot the Netherlands btw... my country... They r on ur side... The bad
luck only is that we just had elections and that they lost their mayority in
our covernment cause one of the big issues was Iraq. Our new covernment is
being formed as we speak and will have an other attitude about this war...
Last figures I read is that 78% of the Dutch r against the war without a UN
resolution. Still sumfin like 64% is against with a new resolution. Over all
I think those figures r more or less the same all over Europe... just to
give u an idea. When we talk about the European Union as it is now (wich is
only a part of Europe as u know), we talk about 300,000,000+ ppl.

Thnx for ur remarks on my writing, I hope I knew to answer at satisfaction.
Nobody has to agree with what I say, I just think its important to listen to
more sites of the story. I hope I am able to add information on one of those
sites... and I am reading the others aswell... We live in dangerous times
and should not make too fast decissions just because an Iraq summer is
comming up in April and it will be to hot to fight. We might regret those
decissions afterwards...

U must be Dutch baron... As I am. I noticed by the remarks the Imam had
made.

Remember we still have a legal political party over here in Holland that in
the name of Christianity says more or less the same things like in the first
alinea of ur story. Thats wat democracy is all about: freedom of speech and
relegion. Its our task to convince those Christians and Muslims that they
might think wrong. Just shooting them will not be a solution I suppose...
The Romans tried that ages ago with the Christians xept instead of bullets,
lions where used.

Even the seccond part of ur story is preached allmost the same by the same
Christians. Still its no reason to start a war against all Christian
countries, now is it... so why would it be a reason to start a war against
Muslim countries because one Imam happened to say sumfin wrong here in
Holland. He even excused himself and stepped down from his function of being
a Imam... Ur examples r not that strong I think baron... sorry, but try to
get a better story next time.

I saw it Bowen... Like the most of the NAVO and the UN countries I was not
impressed... Nobody seems to be convinced yet.... I suppose u have seen the
reactions of those countries after the speech... Most still want to give
more time to the inspectors.
At this moment (NAVO speech at the telly right here right now) the NAVO
still does not want to prepair themselves for a war... they still think a
political solution is possible.
