> I started using the SDK option in HamBot today. In Beta world it logs
> fine, in Atlantis the program freezes when getting world info. Can > somebody explain that? The problem is that Atlantis is a newer (2.1) world, with a list of citizen numbers who are allowed to run bots. (A bot-rights parameter, similar to build-rights, etc). I just checked, and the only citizen number allowed to run bots at this very instant is Cryonics. The call to aw_enter() seems to have a problem (or the implementation in HamBot does, maybe ;-) , causing HamBot to hang. To fix this problem, you need to talk to Cryonics to get your citizen number enabled to run bots. HamBot will continue to run in "native" mode (non-SDK), tho, even in worlds with bot-rights. This will probably work until the encryption is *required*. > What priviliges do SDK bots have. May they build, send telegrams... > just as its citizen owner does? The SDK bots may build, but may not (currently... ;-) send telegrams or keep contact lists. HamBot allows telegrams and contact lists, but only when you log in your bot as a REAL citizen (not as a tourist, and not using the SDK). i'm looking for a triviabotJul 4, 2000, 1:49am
Several people have trivia bots. You can download mine at www.hamfon.com :)

I'm looking for cool stuff that you've done with your bots - things that you
would like to talk about and show to people. If you wrote a bot that does something "different", and it's available either publicly, or can be seen publicly (like a game bot), AND you'd like to tell the world about your bot, please email me at HamFon at ActiveWorlds.com - I'm always looking for new bots for the ActiveWorlds newsletter. Thanks! -- HamFon ...click.. Beta testers needed for Firewall AW versionMar 28, 2001, 5:41pm
I am testing a version of the AW Browser that supports Firewalls. In the
past, some people have been unable to run AW in certain locations (e.g., at work) because of a firewall. The purpose of this version of AW is to give people access to the ActiveWorlds universe and worlds without needing to make changes in the firewall configuration. To qualify as a beta tester, you must: 1) Be an experienced AW user 2) Have a machine that you can use to test (where AW wouldn't run before because of a Firewall) 3) Be willing to work with me in providing feedback and testing bug fixes If you are interested in being a beta tester, please email me (HamFon at ActiveWorlds.com) the following: 1) Your citizen name and number 2) Your preferred email contact address 3) The type of firewall that you (or the company you work for) are using. I need to know the brand and the version. Thanks! -- HamFon ...click.. Bot Of The MonthFeb 6, 2001, 1:31pm
Hi! I need some more material for the Bot Of The Month club articles
published in the AW newsletter each month. If you have a cool bot that you'd like to describe, please email me (HamFon at ActiveWorlds.com). An article consists of a description of the bot, what it does, any particularly cool or difficult features, pretty much anything you want to say about it. It gets it's own web page, so it's not TOO limited as to size. A couple of screen shots of the bot in action are great, if appropriate. Thanks! -- HamFon ...click.. I'm looking for another programmer / bot to profile for the May issue of the
ActiveWorlds newsletter, in the Bot Of the Month column. If you have an interesting bot, and a story to tell about it (pictures accepted, too), please email me at HamFon at ActiveWorlds.com :-) Thanks! -- HamFon ...click.. Bot Of The MonthJul 2, 2001, 7:21pm
Anyone have any interesting bots you'd like to talk about in Bot Of The

I did a Bot Of The Month club article on MagsBot in July 2000 - but I've
asked her if she has others, or an update article for MagsBot. Good idea, thanks! -- HamFon ...click.. [View Quote] Bot Of The MonthJul 24, 2001, 4:16pm
Although I had a previous article about XelaGot, I've also had at least one
from someone who wrote scripts for XelaGot. If you have a good RPG example world and game - using a scripted bot (XelaGot, MagsBot, HamBot, whatever), that'd be great, too! Scripting bots are really just tools to let you do other stuff. -- HamFon ...click.. [View Quote] [.] Weather bot?Jul 24, 2001, 4:21pm
Just as a side note - there WAS a 'special' avatar in AW a couple of years
ago that was a tornado. It was used for "ground zero castrophies". I'm not sure who made it, but you might ask Young Shamus. With an avatar as a tornado, it's REALLY easy to move it - no building and rebuilding needed. Of course, as you have it move down a path, you can move or delete world objects too. -- HamFon ...click.. [View Quote] Formal Accutrans StatementOct 30, 2000, 5:21am
Whaaaat? I don't know any of the details about the deal that Heartfall has
for distribution of Accutrans, but it seems to me that the comments made by Insanity as a representative of Heartfall are inappropriate, misleading, and totally ignorant of any business sense. Casay brought Accutrans to public recognition for object and sequence developers in ActiveWorlds. She has been a strong proponent for the program for, ummm... maybe two years now? I recall working with her (and Wayne) in pre-beta of Accutrans, and Casay has always been professional, knowledgable, and enthusiastic. Casay is a USER of Accutrans, as well as a promoter. She has more knowledge about the program's use within the ActiveWorlds environment than anyone ... ANYONE. The comments made by Insanity certainly appear to reflect a profound lack of knowledge of the history of Accutrans. It seems (from my outsider-perspective) that Heartfall is looking for a scapegoat to blame for their losing the "deal" with Wayne, or for the deal not being able to survive Wayne's price change. Accutrans would not have had the large exposure to ActiveWorlds professional builders without Casay - she's one of the "good guys". (guy, in this case, being a generic term... *s*) -- HamFon ...click.. [View Quote] Beta testers needed for Firewall AW versionMar 28, 2001, 5:41pm
